Oats

Are they Gluten Free?

Yes...But be careful! especially if you are coeliac.

Commercial Oat Processing:

Pure oats are Gluten Free but they can become contaminated if they are processed in factories that handle other products which contain Gluten. Only buy oats which say that they are specifically Gluten Free. you can find these in most supermarkets that have 'free from' sections.

Reactions to Oats: People with Coeliac Disease

If you have just been diagnosed Coeliac the chances are your healthcare professional will recommend you avoid oats. According to the NHS you should avoid eating oats until your new diet has been well established and stabilised, then try to reintroduce oats slowly. You can find this advice here
